Our Yarning Circle

In Term 4 2018, we decided we wanted to put a Yarning Circle into our school learning environment.

Uncle Nolan Simon came in once a week to help us work on our plan. It was definitely a big job with many weeks of planning and preparation. Finally, on 27 November 2018, it was full steam ahead. Rory Drinkwater from Drinkwater’s Landscape Centre brought along his bobcat and worked his magic. The area we chose was perfect –between four trees that have been in our school since well before my time. It was certainly a team effort and couldn’t have been done without the amazing support of Rosie, Pete, Ricky, Jodie and our deadly students at Windale Public School.

Once our Yarning Circle was complete, our students were very eager to get outside and draw their first stories in the fine sand. This is an awesome space that will continue to grow and will be used by everyone for many years to come.
