The Baiyang Baiyaang (Butterfly) children engaged in some new activities during Harmony Week, incorporating National Close the Gap Day.
We added to our program to acknowledge Close the Gap and worked with the children exploring story books, puzzles, games and interest tables. We used the opportunity to share stories about Bush Tucker and Indigenous games and let the children know that being healthy and well is important, and that we can all work together to help each other. The children were encouraged to ask questions and to question each other and we used the time to talk to children about why it’s important to come to preschool and play. (Children are engaged in high-quality, culturally appropriate early childhood education in their early years.) Wellbeing and inclusiveness are important to us, and our children need to grown up safe and strong.
