This week our children engaged in meaningful learning experiences that honoured Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, stories, and connection to Country. Through sensory play, storytelling, art, and music, the children explored Dreaming stories like Tiddalick the Frog and The Rainbow Serpent, creating their own interpretations and building a deep appreciation for the world’s oldest living culture.
We were also honoured to welcome Maree Bisby, a proud Wiradjuri woman and passionate advocate for Aboriginal education and community. Maree shared cultural knowledge and practices with the children and educators, helping us all to deepen our understanding and connection to Country. Her visit brought warmth, wisdom, and authenticity to our NAIDOC Week celebrations.
Celebrating NAIDOC Week in early childhood is an important way to foster respect, understanding, and a sense of belonging. It supports children in developing cultural awareness, connecting with the land, and beginning to understand the significance of First Nations histories and contributions. 🖤❤️💛
